Is there a use-by-date?

Do you often think and say something along the lines of “I am too old to start going to a gym or attempt any type of strength training”?

If any person; be them male or female; utters those words to me, I can without a shadow of a doubt convince them otherwise.

Yes, I agree that we all have “those” days. When those of us over 50 years of age suffer from the symptoms of feeling old. Aching joints, lower back discomfort, difficulty in climbing stairs, bending over, kneeling down and so on…

As true as that may be, please allow me to assure you of the below crucial fact.

You are not old. It is never too late. You are capable of achieving wonderful results from both body and mind when you commit to an exercise program.

As a newcomer to the world of exercise; or even a returning regular; it is of utmost importance to invest in a training schedule that ticks the below points:

  1. Enjoyable
  2. Achievable
  3. Does not cause pain
  4. Provides both visual and mental benefits

Initially, I do recommend the use of a fitness professional rather than relying on phone apps, or on-line, generic and unsupervised exercise programs.

Programs are most efficient and effective when they are tailored to a client’s individual needs and abilities, which will of course vary from person to person. Additionally, understanding and perfecting technique can only be achieved under the care and supervision of an expert.

Once you form good rapport with your trainer, the foundations to establish a regular training schedule as well as the satisfaction that you have achieved something you never thought you could do; will in turn create a tremendously positive experience for you in every way possible.

Your every waking day will have renewed vigour and meaning. Give it a go and prove me right!

Does anyone have a wonderful story to tell since they began regular and committed exercise? We would love to hear it so please share with us.

  1. Hi Viv! Since starting exercising last year and focusing on my core, I no longer have a sway back or constant headaches and back/neck problems. I rarely need to consult a chiropractor apart from a check up occasionally. My chiropractor is amazed at every visit, that she is actually adjusting the same body.

I think people have so many goals in terms of fitness and toning, that we forget simple things like body adjustments and alignment are also an amazing benefit, and pleasant suprise once we put the hard work in.

I can’t also rave enough about how important it is to have an excellent trainer, who keeps you on track. Going for runs with a friend for support is great, but no one makes you accountable and motivated as a friendly, goal oriented trainer 🙂
